Can Massey Drugs create a custom compound?

Yes. Our pharmacists specialize in developing customized compounds guided by causative organism identification. Using results from cultures, lab reports, PCR, or DNA sequencing, we interpret the data and recommend the most targeted treatment options for prescribers. To request support, submit a Patient Assessment Request form through our Practitioner Portal, and we’ll assist in tailoring a precise compounding solution for your patient
					 Do you compound sterile medications?

Yes. Massey Drugs compounds sterile medications in a cleanroom environment following USP <797> standards. Common preparations include injectables (e.g., testosterone, vitamins), sterile ophthalmic drops, and certain inhalation therapies.
How do you ensure quality and compliance in your compounding process?

We employ multiple layers of safeguards and accreditation to maintain high standards. Some of our practices are:
- We comply with USP <797> standards for sterile compounding, working in controlled cleanroom environments for sterile preparations. We hold NABP Accreditation for Compounding Pharmacies which subjects us to third-party review and oversight.
- We are licensed as a compounding pharmacy across 14 states, which means we adhere to each state’s pharmacy statutes and standards.
- We use rigorous quality control processes: verifying ingredients, compounding under validated procedures, and performing checks on weight, potency, sterility (where applicable), and stability.
- We interpret lab data (culture, PCR, DNA sequencing) to guide organism-specific compounding when needed, so that formulations target pathogens correctly.
- We maintain documentation of compounding processes, ingredient sourcing, batch records, and beyond-use dating per compounding regulations.
- Because compounded medications are patient-specific, we cannot claim FDA approval for every medication. The FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety or efficacy in the same way it does manufactured drugs.
Can you provide allergen-free or preservative-free formulations?

Yes. We do provide custom formulations that can omit problematic excipients when indicated. For example, we offer allergen-free, dye-free, lactose-free, gluten-free, and preservative-free options when requested and clinically appropriate.
If a patient has a known sensitivity or allergy, you can request a formulation that avoids that component, and we’ll work with you to design a safe alternative.
Can you suggest alternative dosage forms if my patient cannot take a capsule/tablet?

Yes. That’s one of the major benefits of compounding. If a patient has difficulty swallowing, allergies, or other constraints, we can convert or create an alternative dosage form. Options include:
- Liquids (suspensions or solutions)
- Lozenges
- Creams, gels, ointments, or lotions
- Transdermal patches or gels
- Sublingual or buccal formulations
- Suppositories
- Injections (sterile forms)
- Ophthalmic drops
We partner with you to design the formulation that best meets the patient’s needs while maintaining stability and accurate dosing.
Do you flavor medications for pediatric or veterinary patients?

Yes. We routinely incorporate flavoring to improve patient adherence, especially in pediatric or veterinary populations. Our veterinary compounding service includes flavor-customized formulations specifically for animals.

Logistics and Shipping
					 Where do you ship?

We ship vitamins and over-the-counter (OTC) products nationwide to all 50 states.
For prescription medications, we are licensed to dispense and ship to the following states: AL, MS, LA, GA, FL, SC, NC, TN, KY, IL, IN, OH, PA and NY. Check back periodically as we are always adding new states.
What shipping carrier do you use?

We use United Parcel Service (UPS) and can ship ground, next day air, next day air early and next day air (Saturday). Our emergency eye drops are shipped next day air.
How do you ship temperature-sensitive medications?

Temperature-sensitive prescriptions are packaged with insulated materials and ice packs to maintain the proper temperature during transit. It is normal for ice packs to melt before delivery, but the packaging is designed to keep medications within the correct temperature range until they reach the patient.
Do you ship directly to patients, or can medications be shipped to my clinic?

Yes we do ship directly to patients and clinics. As a 503A compounding pharmacy, every prescription we prepare must be patient-specific. This means we can ship directly to your clinic, but each compounded medication must be tied to an individual patient name.
How long does it take for my patients to receive their compounded medication?

Compounded medications are made specifically for each patient and are prepared once payment is received. Most prescriptions are processed within 24–48 hours and are ready for pickup or shipping within that time, provided we receive both the prescription and payment Monday through Friday. Please note we are closed on weekends and do not ship on Saturdays or Sundays. Once payment is received, we let the patient know when to expect their shipment.
What can I do to ensure my patient receives their medication promptly?

You can help us avoid delays by making sure prescriptions are complete and patient information is up to date. The most common reasons for delays are:
- Patient contact and payment: We must reach the patient to confirm shipping details and collect payment before compounding can begin. Let patients know that they will receive a call from Massey Drugs.
- Incorrect or missing information: Outdated phone numbers or addresses prevent us from contacting patients in a timely manner.
- Prescription clarification: If any details are unclear, our pharmacists must hold the prescription until we can confirm with your office.
To keep the process smooth, please double-check patient contact details on prescriptions and ensure your team is available to respond quickly if we need clarification. This partnership helps your patients receive their medications without unnecessary delays.
Billing and Insurance
Do you bill insurance for compounded prescriptions?

No. Massey Drugs does not bill insurance directly for compounded prescriptions. Most insurance plans do not cover compounded medications; however, patients may be able to submit a claim to their insurance company for possible reimbursement. We provide receipts with their shipment to help with this process.
Do you offer clinic pricing for some compounded medications?

Yes. We offer clinic pricing on GLP-1s, men’s health compounds, women’s HRT, anti-aging compounds and ophthalmic compounds. Price sheets are available through our Practitioner Portal.
How much do you compounded medications cost?

Pricing for compounded medications varies depending on several factors, including:
- The active ingredient(s) and their concentrations
- Dosage form (capsules, creams, injections, suspensions, etc.)
- Strength, volume, or quantity dispensed
- Special formulation requirements (allergen-free, preservative-free, flavoring, etc.)
For current clinic and patient pricing, prescribers can access our detailed price sheets through the Practitioner Portal.
Clinical Support
Can I consult with a pharmacist about choosing a formulation or dosing?

Yes. Our pharmacists are available to consult with prescribers about formulation options, dosing considerations, and alternatives when a commercially available product does not meet your patient’s needs. We work directly with providers to recommend appropriate strengths, dosage forms, and excipients, and to help troubleshoot complex cases. You can call Massey Drugs at 833.540.3500 and ask to speak with a compounding pharmacist at any time.
How do you handle patient questions - should they call you first or me?

We encourage patients to call Massey Drugs first with any questions about their compounded medication. Our pharmacists can address most concerns directly—such as how to take the medication, storage instructions, or what to expect. If the question requires clinical input or a change to the prescription, we will contact you as the prescriber to coordinate next steps.
Can Massey Drugs help me choose the right compound based on lab results?

Yes. At Massey Drugs, we specialize in customized compound recommendations guided by causative organism identification. Our pharmacists review culture results, lab reports, PCR, and DNA sequencing data to help you select the most targeted treatment for your patient. Prescribers can submit a Patient Assessment Request form through our Practitioner Portal, and our team will provide compounding recommendations to support your clinical decision-making.
